Visit http://energystar.gov for helpful information. You can find a light output equivalency chart which shows, for instance, that you would need to purchase a 13-15 watt CFL to replace a 60 watt incandescent bulb. IMPORTANT: Note that if the light fixture is connected to a dimmer or three-way socket fixture, you'll need to use a qualified CFL designed to work in this application so be mindful of this during replacement.
